P2799 Fiber Optic ATE
Fiber Optic Accessor Trunk Extender (Fiber ATE) is a Red Outstation that is used to increase the distance over which Accessor communication can occur. A pair of fiber on the In-By side of the ATE allows for fiber optic communication for up to two miles. On the Out-By side of the Fiber ATE standard CONSPEC Copper Trunk Cable may be used to connect other Accessors and Monitoring Hardware. The Fiber ATE is also used to boost and reshape the signal allowing communication to continue on Copper Trunk Cable for another 8000 feet on the Out-By side. The Fiber ATE is also equipped with a four-hour battery back up and a watchdog timer to monitor communications on the remote trunk. The P2799 Fiber ATE has the capability of operating two (2) remote trunks on the Out-By side. A dual light-emitting diode display on the front of the ATE indicates whether the unit is being powered from an external AC source, and if power is being distributed to Trunk 1, & Trunk 2. To prevent an inadvertent failure due to low battery levels the battery unit will cut out when its power output drops below twenty-three volts. This prevents the battery from being completely drained, ensuring that the system will be fully operational as soon as power is restored.
