Portable Paging Receiver

CONSPEC Control’s Paging Receiver is designed to provide fast, reliable, and easy-to-install alarm and notification toworkers in underground and tunnel environments.

The battery-powered Paging Receiver is a stand-alone radio data receiver with internal antenna, speaker, alarm L.E.D. indicators, and reset switch.

Each receiver can be programmed to respond to a unique I.D.and also be made member of up to eight groups. Every unit will respond to an Emergency Call message.

Upon reception of a page command, the speaker sounds and the corresponding L.E.D. will begin blinking, indicating the type of notification. Battery status indication is also contained within the L.E.D. operation.

The paging receiver consists of a plastic housing, internal battery pack, ferrite antenna, radio receiver, front-mounted speaker, and top-mounted On/Off switch, coloured indicators, and push button switch.

The individual identification number and the group association code are programmed into internal memory via the serial communication port on a personal computer. The receiver will respond to any message detected that matches it’s individual ID code, group ID code, or the Emergency Call code.

Paging messages are delivered throughout the underground complex using a CONSPEC Radio Communication System. Messages are initiated from the surface via operator input control, or alternatively via an automatic process from a CONSPEC Senturion Monitor System.

Paging Receivers will respond within five seconds of message initiation, allowing maximum response time to situation developments. In addition, the receivers can be put into voice reception mode. In this operation, voice messages can be heard while they are active on the CONSPEC Radio System. Automatic voice messaging can be used through a record/playback method, or live voice information can be broadcast from a central station by operator activity.

When power is applied to the receiver via the On/Off switch, all three indicators will blink several times, followed by a short beep played on the speaker. The battery voltage will immediately by tested. If the battery voltage is acceptable, the green indicator will flash. If the battery is low, the amber indicator will flash instead.

The battery voltage is continuously monitored while the unit is in operation. Every ten seconds, the green or amber indicator will flash, indicating the battery status.

When a paging message is received and it matches one of the three types, the speaker will beep several times, followed by the corresponding indicator being put into constant blinking mode. The green indicator is used for individual message. The amber indicator is used for group message. The red indicator signifies an Emergency message.

The indicator will continue to blink and the speaker will re-activate every 30-seconds until the reset switch is pressed. Once pressed, the receiver will perform a power start cycle.

When the receiver is in normal mode (no message actively indicated), the receiver can be put into voice reception mode by holding down the reset button for several seconds. The speaker will then play the audio output of the receiver until put back into normal operational mode by the operator.
